EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI DISASTER CAUSED IN NORTHEAST JAPAN


A strong earthquake of magnitude 8.9 struck the northeastern coast of Japan on Friday (March 11, 2011), generating a tsunami (tidal wave with destructive potential) that devastated towns, dragging buildings, houses, cars and ships. A nuclear power plant was rocked by the quake and suffered an explosion.
