Belarus is divided into six regions, known as voblasts, plus the capital city of Minsk, which has a special administrative status. Each region has its own geographical, economic, and cultural characteristics. Brest Region – Located in the southwest, it is known for agriculture, forests, and its proximity to Poland and Ukraine. The city of Brest is one of the country's major historical centers. Gomel Region – The largest region by area, located in southeastern Belarus. It is an important center for industry, agriculture, and transportation. Grodno Region – Situated in western Belarus, bordering Poland and Lithuania. It is known for its historic towns, multicultural heritage, and agricultural production. Mogilev Region – Located in eastern Belarus and characterized by agriculture, manufacturing, and industrial activity. Mogilev is one of the country's major cities. Minsk Region – Surrounding the capital, it is one of Belarus's most economically important areas. It combines agriculture, industry, transportation, and suburban development. Vitebsk Region – Located in the north, bordering Russia and Latvia. It is known for its forests, lakes, cultural heritage, and historical importance. Minsk City – Although not part of Minsk Region, the capital is a separate administrative unit. It is Belarus's largest city and the country's main political, economic, and cultural center.
