Ghana lifts first U-20 World Cup
Ghana, playing with ten men claimed their first major Under-20 World title after winning the competition on penalties over Brazil.

Asante Kotoko player, Agyeman Badu scored the decisive penalty kick to hand the Black Satellites a 4-3 win in Cairo after 120 minutes.

The win was the first by an African side in the age competition after Ghana had suffered two defeats in previous finals.

Ghana played majority of the game, thus 87 minutes with ten men following the first half dismissal of Daniel Addo in the 37th minute as the Black Satellites trailed the game which Brazil dominated but failed to take their chances.

A tiring Ghana side held their nerve to hold back the South Americans, who defeated the Black Satellites in the 1993 final as the game headed into extra-time.

During the extra 30 minutes, Brazil looked the best side with Ghana producing some swift moves on the counter.

But the tie had to be settled on penalties.

Brazil opened the scoring during penalty kicks but Ghana responded as Andre Ayew and Samuel Inkoom scored.

The third and fourth attempts by Jonathan Mensah and Bright Addae were saved by the Brazilian goalkeeper Rafael.

However, Ghana keeper Daniel Agyei blocked Brazil's fourth and fifth kicks to keep the Black Satellites back in contention of a major title as Dominic Adiyiah converted his kick.

Teixeira saw his shot, the sixth kick, fly over the crossbar and Ghana were handed the initiative.

And the moment glory fell on Agyemang Badu who displaced Rafael to claim for Ghana gold in a dramatic finish.

Ghana, thus complete a double after clinching the African title earlier this year.
